Emma ’18 St. Charles North High School

Published by Jan under pet,senior,studio,teen

It was great to be able to shoot Emma’s senior session! I’ve known her and her family for many years and have served alongside of Emma in the church nursery since she was in 5th grade! I did her sisters senior session a few years ago so it was special to be able to do Emma’s also! We started at Midwest Groundcover in St. Charles, then to LeRoy Oaks Forest Preserve, then to her home to include her fur-babies in the session. She came out the the studio on another morning to finish up her session with some track images. So much fun! Here are some of her favorite images!

Brian ’16 Burlington Central High School

Published by Jan under senior,studio

Brian’s session was held at Garfield Farm in Campton Hills. Garfield Farm and Inn Museum in a historically intact former 1840s prairie farmstead and teamster inn that is preserved as an 1840s living history museum. This farm is special to Brian because he earned his Eagle Scout by building the ox shed. It was designed and built as it would have been back in the 1840′s! An amazing project!

We also went to my stuidio in Burlington to take some images with another passion of his – Robotics! He has won many awards and medals over the years and is planning on continuing his education at Marquette University in Mechanical Engineering. Here are some of his favorite images: 2016-07-07_0001.jpg

Woven Artistry – Richard Krupa

Published by Jan under commercial,headshots,studio

2015-01-21_0001.jpg

This commercial session was so educational! Richard Krupa is a true artisan. He is the owner and craftsman at Woven Artistry. It was such a pleasure to work with him and Cindy Hardy of Designers Ink. Richard needed images of his baskets and also headshot of himself. These baskets are incredible! A little bit about them:

Every piece of the baskets are MADE BY HAND. Raw materials are sourced & hand-harvested from trees in the Kentucky region. Every part is made by hand. The handles, hoops, ribs and pegs are rived from White Oak trees that are wrought by hand and wittled to shape & size. The weavers are from the bark of Red Elm trees. The layers of bark are separated like a fan, then woven into the warp & weft of the design.

. . ROOTED in the Earth
. . WROUGHT by hand
. . REBORN into fine artistry

He has had his baskets on display at the Smithsonian American Art Museum and also showcased in the book A Measure of the Earth: The Cole-Ware Collection of American Baskets. It was a honor to meet and work with him.
