Happy Veteran’s Day! It was my honor to photograph Alex. He is active Army ROTC, home in Elgin on leave. He graduated from Michigan State University ROTC. He is currently an officer for the US Army stationed in Fort Stewart, George. He is EOD – Explosive Ordinance Disposal. He has been stationed in VA & FL. He is in his 2nd year of a 4 year active duty and then 4 years of reserve duty.

Although I didn’t photograph Alex when he was a senior, I did get to photograph his brother Ryan when he graduated. So it was nice to catch up with his mom and hear all about Ryan also! Alex’s session was held in his backyard in Elgin – we had to include 2 of his loves – his dog & his truck! We did not do any in uniform – his mom wanted more casual images. Here are some of his favorites!

Aaron’s session was last fall at his relatives gorgeous property in rural Elgin.  Aaron has such a genuine, natural smile it was hard to get him to give me a serious face.  He is planning on studying heating and air conditioning (HVAC) at Elgin Community College next fall.  Best of luck Aaron!

{sneak peek – Monica}

Published by Jan under Uncategorized,senior

Monica’s session was a busy one – we had 3 locations – her backyard, Runde’s landscaping, and Muirhead’s bed and breakfast – and many outfit changes. Monica is very musically inclined as she sings in the choral and is a drum major in the marching band – so we incorporated her choral dress and drum major outfit into the shoot. We almost got eaten alive by the mosquitoes and just missed a downpour going to the 2nd location but the session was great! Hope you like your sneak peek Monica, your full session will be online in a day or two.

Falling behind….

Published by Jan under Uncategorized,family

I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t had time to blog! So this is NOT a sneak peek of the “S” family portraits but I liked them so well I had to share! This session was on the campus of Judson University where Kimberly teaches. It was one of the hottest days so far of the summer but everyone toughed it out. I got to photograph the entire family, sisters together, and then some of Jess for her senior pictures. What a gorgeous family! Thank you for the opportunity to photograph the family before Jess leaves for school in fall for North Park. Good luck Jess!

Another gorgeous senior girl

Published by Jan under Uncategorized,senior

I had the pleasure of photographing Stephanie’s senior pictures last Saturday. It was a cool, windy morning but the sun was shining. Stephanie walked all over with her high heels on – sitting on rocks, benches, tall grass – all while not missing a step! The wind kept whipping her hair every which way but the photos only show the natural wind swept look. Best of luck next year Stephanie – majoring in interior design.
